CH 10: Florida

Florida is one of my favorite city that I want to go. It is so beautiful city and there are a lot of beaches. I will compare with San Francisco. It could be fun because both of them is famous for tour.

Florida's average temperature is higher than San Francisco. Two Cities are opposite month which has rainfall. In Florida, there are a lot of rainfall in Summer but San Francisco has rainfall in winter only. There is also hurricane season from June through November.

White people is highest percentage in Florida. Second is Black people.

South Atlantic's summer is hot, humid and rainy and winter is temperature is so low and rain average about fifty inches. However, San Francisco has dry and cool for summer and rainy but warm for winter. In South Atlantic area, there are tropical storms and hurricanes between june and November. However, there is no rainfall between may and october in San Francisco.

Now South Atlantic's population are growth fast. There were a lot of black people in South Atlantic but now it was changed to Hispanic people is highest rate in South Atlantic. 

CH 8: Appalachia



The Appalachian Mountains go through thirteen states but it is located east side of the U.S. so it is far from San Francisco. However, I will compare with Appalachian mountains and San Francisco.

Climate of Appalachia is warm and temperate and there is rainfall throughout the year. Even Driest month, there is rainfall.  The average of temperature is 12.4C. However, San Francisco have no rainfall between May to October. and the average of temperature is 13.7C. Temperature is almost similar but Appalachia has more rainfalls.

In Appalachia, there are 94% of White people, 3.4% black people and 1.2% Hispanic people but In San  Francisco, there are only 47% of white people and lot of percentage of Asians.

Prince Edward Island


Nova Scotia


San Francisco is very similar with Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia because both of them are island, so it has more than 3 sides of oceans. Therefore, most of them live live within 6 miles of the coast which is so small like San Francisco. However, a different is the population in Atlantic Canada and Northern New England states is older and San Francisco. Young people are leaving because of decreasing jobs.

CH3: Sustainability

Air Quality


Maintaining good air Quality is key to the public health and economic vitality of San Francisco. San Francisco should target to provide its residents and visitors with clean air.

Indoors and outdoors have affect to human health. It is very important to maintain keeping air clean. Quality of outdoors air affects to indoors air. In addition, Americans spend 90% of their lives indoors.

San Francisco is surrounding by three sides of ocean, so it has a good air quality


Solid Waste

In 1989 the state council passed the Integrated Waste Management Act that change 50% of California counties what they send to landfill by the year 2000. The City started recycling program and my businesses began establishing recycling programs in the workplace.

San Francisco has an amazingly high rate to recycle. The city has 7 ½ pounds of waste and recyclables per person per day. San Francisco’s people, businesses and consumers must commit to recycle.

Climate


Mark Twain said "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." San Francisco's summer is cool because it is in Mediterranean climate which is moist mild winters and dry summers. It is surrounded on three sides by water, so it is influenced by Pacific Ocean.


San Francisco's dry period starts from May to October which period is mild to warm with average high temperatures of 64-71F. The rainy period starts from November to April and it is cooler with average high temperatures of 58-64F.


Location

San Francisco is located on the West Coast of the U.S. There are several famous islands which are Alcatraz, Treasure Island and Adjacent Yerba Buena Island. Also, small portions of Alameda Island, Red Rock Island, and Angel Island are part of City.



CH1: Regions and Ecoregions


San Francisco is my one of my favorite city in the U.S which is most beautiful city and so famous for tourism. San Francisco is 46.9 square miles on the northern end of the San Francisco. It is 17,620 people per square which is second-most densely populated major city. The population is 825,863. San Francisco is the forth most populous city in California and 14th most populous city in the U.S.



San Francisco was founded on June 29, 1776. On 1849, the California Gold Rush brought rapid growth. However, city was destroyed because of fire and earthquake on 1906. San Francisco rebuilt the city.
